Austrian Airlines is expanding its carefully curated premium spirits portfolio, designed to create memorable moments of indulgence at 10,000 metres, with a truly distinctive new addition. “Austrian Dirndl”, the airline’s new signature drink, carries a clear message around the globe: this is what modern, mindful enjoyment tastes like, crafted from the finest natural ingredients and proudly “Made in Austria”.

At the heart of “Austrian Dirndl” is a liqueur made from the Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas), affectionately known as Dirndl in eastern Austria. Rich in vitamin C and iron, this traditional fruit lends the drink its distinctive character. Freshly prepared on board Austrian Airlines’ Dreamliner, Boeing 777 and Boeing 767 aircraft, the drink is mixed in a 1:2 ratio with sparkling mineral water and served over ice. The result is a refreshing, light and perfectly balanced beverage with vibrant fruity-tart notes, making it an equally enjoyable aperitif or digestif. The new signature drink was developed through a close collaboration between Austrian Airlines, the team at Wiener Dirndl Genuss GmbH and THE Taste Symphonie. The organic Dirndl fruit is sourced from Vienna and the surrounding region, where it blossoms as early as March before being hand-harvested at peak ripeness in late summer.
