Sofia Cantele takes on role as Board Advisor International & Government Affairs

Sofia Cantele is taking on the role of Board Advisor International & Government Affairs at Austrian Airlines with immediate effect. In her new role, Sofia Cantele will represent Austrian Airlines in political matters, analyse and evaluate regulatory developments, and advise the Executive Board on their impact on strategy, business development and competitiveness. In addition, she will serve as an important interface between the airline and political interest groups relevant to the industry at national and international level. She succeeds Walter Reimann, who is retiring after 37 years of service. Sofia Cantele will now continue his work as an established Board Advisor Public Affairs.


Sofia Cantele has over ten years of national and international experience in strategy, corporate and government affairs, communications, stakeholder engagement and project management. She began her career at Austrian Airlines, where she initially worked in the aviation policy department and then in human resources. In 2019, she moved into consulting, where she advised companies in various industries. Most recently, she worked for the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly Austria as Lead External & Governmental Affairs and in an international role in Corporate Affairs. Since 2023, she has held an honorary position at the Austrian Public Affairs Association (ÖPAV), where she co-chairs the Legislation Working Group and serves as a member of the extended board.
