- Popular destinations in Greece, Spain, and Italy will be served significantly more often in summer 2026
- 490 additional flights now available for booking for spring, summer, and fall 2026
- Flight vouchers are the perfect gift for spontaneous occasions
Just in time for the holidays, Austrian Airlines’ network planners are putting lots of extra flights to the top summer destinations for 2026 under the Christmas tree. Anyone who wants to use the upcoming holidays to plan their vacation with their loved ones can now take advantage of 490 additional flights to the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean during the 2026 peak and off-peak seasons.
The 2026 summer flight schedule will include a total of 113 short- and medium-haul destinations and 20 long-haul destinations served directly from Vienna, resulting in a total program of 133 (2025: 127) destinations planned for the 2026 summer season. The summer flight schedule is valid from March 29 to October 24, 2026.
The Greek islands are inviting and easy to reach
You can choose one or two “new” islands from Austrian Airlines’ Greece portfolio, which has been expanded by 148 flights. A total of 21 different destinations in Greece will offer a warm “Kalimera and welcome to Greece” to passengers on flights with the red-white-red tail fin. Crete is particularly popular with up to 19 flights per week (14 times a week to Heraklion and five times to Chania), followed by Rhodes, Corfu, and Kos. But Karpathos, Santorini, Kalamata, Lefkada, Zakynthos, and Lemnos also enjoy continued popularity. Mytilini/Lesbos is also back in the program after a long break. Tip from the network planners: Enjoy the beauty of the islands in the peace and quiet of the early or late season, which is significantly extended at some destinations!
The choice: significantly more flights to Italy – or perhaps to Spain?
Italy fans have known for generations that a short trip or even a long vacation in Italy is always a good idea. Austrian Airlines’ offer is more attractive than ever: 222 more flights are available than in the summer of last year. In total, there will be flights to twelve different destinations in Italy in summer 2026, significantly more often than last year to Rome, Florence, and Lamezia Terme, for example. Sardinia is also particularly popular, with up to ten flights a week to Olbia and Cagliari in summer 2026.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to travel to Spain – or perhaps even in addition to Italy – there are now 120 more flights available than previously announced. There is a particular focus on increasing capacity to Valencia and Barcelona. In total, there will be “Hola, Austrian Airlines” at eleven Spanish destinations (mainland and islands) during the summer season, with Bilbao and Alicante being brand new additions to the Spanish summer flight schedule.
Those who prefer to stay cool in summer need to be quick. The “cool” summer destinations, with up to seven flights a week to Reykjavik, three weekly flights each to Bergen and Edinburgh, two flights to Tromsø, and one flight to the Lofoten Islands, are currently on many travelers’ bucket lists and are enjoying ever-increasing demand.
