- Around 100 additional rotations to popular destinations invite travellers to take a break during the last week of October
- 25 destinations boosted, 13 extended into autumn – remaining seats still available for spontaneous and flexible travellers
- Focus on Spain and Cyprus, including the deployment of a Boeing 777
- CEO Annette Mann: “The Austrian autumn holidays have become a fixed date in the travel calendar – perfect for a few days of sunshine by the Mediterranean or a city break. There are still seats available – weekdays are ideal for travel.”
Even though this year’s public holidays on 26 October and 1 November fall on weekends, shortening the school autumn holidays to just one week, this hasn’t dampened Austrians’ appetite for travel. With the weather in Austria remaining rather unsettled, many travellers are still eager to plan a spontaneous getaway.
Reason enough for Austrian Airlines’ network planners to significantly increase capacity for the final days of October – offering an attractive mix of sun and city destinations.
“The Austrian autumn holidays have become a fixed point in the travel calendar – perfect for soaking up some warmth by the Mediterranean or enjoying a city trip,” says Austrian Airlines CEO Annette Mann. “Seats are still available, and a little flexibility helps – flights during weekdays are ideal.”
Strong focus on Spain – and plenty of sunshine destinations
In the hope of pleasant weather and comfortable temperatures – perfect for excursions, sightseeing, or outdoor activities that can be less enjoyable in the summer heat – Spain remains a top choice for Austrian travellers during the autumn holidays. To meet demand, Austrian Airlines adds:
- Five extra flights to Málaga (in addition to the daily service)
- Three extra flights to Barcelona
- Four additional return flights to Valencia
- And a remarkable twelve additional flights to Mallorca, the perennial favourite that shows its full charm in the late season.
Italy enthusiasts are equally well served: Rome gets ten extra flights, and Florence sees three more added to the regular schedule.
To the Island of Aphrodite – now with the Boeing 777
Those heading east to the Mediterranean will find Cyprus an ideal choice for topping up their vitamin D levels with its pleasant air and sea temperatures. A particular highlight: on three of the ten additional rotations, Austrian Airlines will operate a Boeing 777, offering even more capacity.
The Greek islands also shine in the quieter post-summer period. To capture this authentic charm, Austrian Airlines extends its summer schedule with eleven additional flights to Crete and two more to Rhodes.
Cool cities calling
For those preferring an urban getaway, Austrian Airlines offers its dense city network for the autumn holidays. Amsterdam, London, Berlin, and Paris are especially popular – with sightseeing, shopping, and nightlife awaiting travellers.
The bonus: those travelling during the week can benefit from the relaxed atmosphere of the shoulder season, avoiding the typical tourist rush.
