New from December 2025: Klagenfurt Becomes the Latest AIRail Destination

  • From 14 December, ÖBB and Austrian Airlines will add KlagenfurtVienna to the AIRail network.
  • Enabled by the new Koralm Railway: with just one ticket, passengers can travel seamlessly by train and flight from Klagenfurt to over 125 destinations in the Austrian Airlines network.
  • CEO Annette Mann: “AIRail is a well-established and popular product that is now being extended to include Klagenfurt, further strengthening our multimodal transport partnership with ÖBB. This offers our guests from southern Austria another attractive connection to our Vienna hub.
  • ÖBB Board Member for Passenger Transport, Sabine Stock: Intermodal travel is on the rise. Our partnership with Austrian Airlines is entering its 12th year, with steadily increasing numbers of passengers choosing to begin their journey to and from Vienna Airport by rail.

A joint success story is entering a new chapter: under the motto “From Train to Plane”, Austrian Airlines passengers have been able to travel conveniently to Vienna International Airport for the past eleven years with AIRail, the combined service offered by ÖBB and Austrian Airlines, from the cities of Linz, Graz, Salzburg and Innsbruck.

From 14 December 2025, Klagenfurt will also become an AIRail destination, thanks to the opening of the Koralm Railway. With the launch of the new timetable, seven direct connections will be offered daily, every two hours, between Klagenfurt Central Station (KGV) and Vienna Airport (VIE), with a total journey time of just under four hours – nonstop and without transfers.

Annette Mann, CEO of Austrian Airlines, emphasizes: “We are pleased to further expand the established and popular AIRail service from 14 December, strengthening our multimodal transport partnership with ÖBB. Guests from southern Austria will now benefit from an additional attractive option for their travel planning via our Vienna hub.” The current winter schedule also includes two daily flights between Klagenfurt and Vienna, operated by Austrian Airlines’ wet lease partner Braathens Regional Airlines.

Sabine Stock, Member of the Board of ÖBB-Personenverkehr AG, adds: “Intermodal travel continues to grow in popularity. The opening of the Koralm Railway marks a historic milestone in rail transport, creating new and attractive travel opportunities from December onwards. This also applies to our joint AIRail service: with seven daily direct connections between Klagenfurt Central Station and Vienna Airport, climate-friendly access to the airport has never been more attractive.”

The Klagenfurt–Vienna Airport AIRail service will be available for booking from October via www.austrian.com or through any travel agency. With just one ticket covering both train and flight, passengers will have seamless access to more than 125 destinations in the Austrian Airlines route network.
