- Supervisory Board extends mandate for five years until 2029
- Francesco Sciortino is Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Austrian Airlines since April 2021
This morning the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines AG has decided the reappointment of COO Francesco Sciortino, member of the Executive Board, from 01.04.2024 for five years until 31.03.2029.
The experienced manager and trained pilot has started his aviation career in 1997 at Austrian Airlines. Since April 2021 Francesco Scortino is a member of the airline’s Executive Board team and is responsible for Flight Operations, Ground Operations and Technical Operations among others. Together with Annette Mann as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Michael Trestl as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Francesco Sciortino is part of the three-person executive team of Austrian Airlines.
“Francesco Sciortino is an asset for Austrian Airlines. Under his leadership, it was possible to steer Austria’s home carrier safely through the Corona crisis and to use the current tailwind to build up a new fleet strength. As COO, Francesco Sciortino has contributed significantly to Austrian Airlines’ top performance. The Austrian National carrier has been one of the most punctual airlines in Europe for several months in a row”, says Christina Foerster, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Austrian Airlines AG on the occasion of the reappointment. In addition to the first positive financial result since the pandemic in 2022, the Austrian Airlines fleet is growing until this summer by four A320neo on short haul and medium haul destinations. Furthermore, the modernization of the long haul fleet with ten Boeing 787-9 was recently decided, resulting in the growth by one aircraft.
“I am looking forward to continue the successful collaboration and I am convinced that together as a team we will reach new heights. I am particularly looking forward to see the fleet induction of the 787-9 in the coming years, by which we are paving the way for a new era of aircraft and a successful future at Austrian Airlines”, concludes Francesco Sciortino.
