• Concerns destinations Beijing and Shanghai
• Safety for passengers and crew has top priority
• Refunds and rebooking possibilities for affected passengers

The safety of its passengers and employees is a top priority for Austrian Airlines. After a thorough evaluation of all currently available information on the Corona virus, Austrian Airlines has decided to suspend its flights to/from China until 9 February 2020. This affects the destinations Beijing and Shanghai. In addition, booking acceptance for flights to/from China scheduled until the end of February has been stopped. Austrian Airlines will continue to monitor the Corona virus situation on an ongoing basis and is in contact with the responsible authorities.

Austrian Airlines will be flying to Beijing and Shanghai once again today (29 January 2020). This is intended to give our guests the opportunity to take their planned flight and our crews to return to Austria.

Affected passengers holding a ticket issued before/on 23 January for a flight to/from China between 24 January and 29 February, have the possibility to rebook once free of charge to a flight on the original route or cancelling the trip. This applies to passengers with a ticket issued by Lufthansa, SWISS or Austrian Airlines and flights with an LH, LX, or OS flight number. The new journey has to take place at the latest by 30 September 2020.

Austrian Airlines currently flies five times a week to Beijing and four times to Shanghai. The Lufthansa Group offers a total of 54 regular weekly connections from Germany, Switzerland and Austria to the Chinese mainland. Destinations are Nangjing, Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang and Qingdao. Furthermore, the Lufthansa Group airlines also offer 19 weekly connections to Hong Kong.
