Career notes: Management Positions Filled at Austrian Airlines

Company

• Sebastian Lüttmann is the new Head of Austrian Brand Experience
• Robert Heusmann will serve as Head of Network Management & Revenue Steering
• The merger of divisions should generate synergies

Austrian Airlines has already announced the merger of business units within the context of its current strategy program in order to more effectively leverage synergies in the company and also reduce the number of executive positions. Now the marketing and product divisions of the red-white-red flag carrier have been merged. Effective February 1, 2021, Sebastian Lüttmann will assume the position as head of the newly created department called Austrian Brand Experience. Mr. Lüttmann, who is currently in charge of Passenger & Aircraft Handling of Austrian Airlines in Vienna, will thus be responsible for the entire marketing and product management activities of the Austrian national airline.

The two divisions of Revenue Steering and Network Planning will also be fused. Robert Heusmann, currently the Head of Network Planning, will serve as the head of the newly created business unit “Network Management & Revenue Steering” as of February 1, 2021. Accordingly, Mr. Heusmann will be responsible for network planning as well as the management of prices and revenue at Austrian Airlines.

“I am pleased that we succeeded in convincing Sebastian Lüttmann and Robert Heusmann, two experienced managers from our own ranks, to assume new positions in the company”, says Andreas Otto, Member of the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines. “They are taking the next career step in the midst of an extremely challenging time. Both are crisis-tested and will push ahead with the realignment and modernization of Austrian Airlines on the basis of their expertise.”

Sebastian Lüttmann (40) accepted his first job at Lufthansa as Manager Corporate Controlling in the year 2005 following his training to become an air traffic clerk and his studies in international business administration. During his eleven-year career at Lufthansa, Mr. Lüttmann worked as Assistant to the Executive Board Member for Hub Frankfurt & Flight Operations. In 2011, Sebastian Lüttmann moved to New York to assume a position in the field of Airport Operations and Services. As team leader, he was responsible for process, cost and quality management at 26 Lufthansa stations in North America and South America until 2015. Since October 2015, he has served as Senior Director Ground Operations Passenger & Aircraft Handling Hub Vienna. Sebastian Lüttmann lives in a partnership.

Robert Heusmann (45) began his professional career for Lufthansa in the field of air fares policy in 2001. In 2005 he switched to network steering where he was responsible for pricing and yield management. He was appointed to his first management position in 2007 when he became Team Leader Yield Management at the Lufthansa hub in Munich. After working in Dubai as the Head of Human Resources Africa and the Middle East, Robert Heusmann was named Head of Revenue Management for Austrian Airlines in 2012, where he has held various management positions since then. In 2016, he was named Head of Fleet Planning for the hub airlines Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and SWISS. In this capacity he was responsible for the short- and medium-term fleet planning at the Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich flight hubs. Mr. Heusmann is married.
