CEO / CFO Alexis von Hoensbroech
Alexis von Hoensbroech was born on 3 October 1970 in Cologne.
He studied physics at the University of Bonn before obtaining a doctorate in an astrophysics-related subject at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. Between 1999 and 2005, he worked at management consultancy company The Boston Consulting Group in Munich and Tokyo, most recently as a Project Manager. His customers were primarily from the airline industry. In 2005, Dr Alexis von Hoensbroech moved to Lufthansa, taking on responsibility for the Strategy & Subsidiaries division of Lufthansa Passage. In 2009, he was named "Project Manager for Airline Integration Management", where he was responsible for the integration of various airlines, such as Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, into the Lufthansa Group. From July 2010, the Manager has been "Head of Commercial Frankfurt" for Lufthansa Passage and responsible for network management, revenue management and commercial business management at the airline's biggest hub. On 1 December 2014, he moved to Lufthansa Cargo AG, serving on its Executive Board as CCO.
Since August 1, 2018 von Hoensbroech has been a Member of the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He holds management responsibility for the following divisions: Cabin Operations, Human Resources, Business Development & Corporate Strategy, Corporate Communications, Legal Affairs and Internal Audit as well as International & Aeropolitical Affairs. Since January 1, 2021, CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech has assumed responsibility for "Finance" on the Management Board.
COO Jens Ritter
Jens Ritter was born on August 1, 1973 in Rüsselsheim.
He started his flying career in 2000 after studying aerospace engineering in Munich and training as an Airbus A320 pilot at the Bremen Commercial Aviation School with Lufthansa. In 2008 he switched to Airbus A330/340 as a long-haul pilot. In 2014 he was trained at Germanwings to become a captain on the Airbus A320. He assumed his first management function in 2005 as team leader for the "A380 Onboard IT" project. Later he held various management positions and was also responsible for the introduction of the paperless cockpit at Lufthansa. From 2011 Ritter worked in Flight Operations and Fuel Efficiency at Lufthansa. In 2014 he took over as Head of Operations Efficiency and Strategy at Lufthansa Passage. At the same time, he led the Lufthansa Group's project to standardize Group-wide flight operations processes. Since February 2016, Jens Ritter has been heading the operations of Austrian Airlines as Accountable Manager. Since 2018, he has also been Process Owner Flight Ops Digitalization & Efficiency and is responsible for the digitalization of the entire Lufthansa Group flight operations.
As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Jens Ritter has been part of the extended Executive Board of Austrian Airlines since April 1, 2020. His responsibilities include Crew Training, Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Ops Planning & Steering, Technical Operations, Safety, Security & Compliance Monitoring Operations and Ops Support. He reports to the CEO in his function.
CCO Michael Trestl
Michael Trestl was born on September 18, 1985 in Vienna.
After graduating with a diploma in business management and a master's degree in tourism management he earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Salzburg and the University of Latvia in Riga. In 2011, he began his career within Lufthansa Group in the corporate development department at Edelweiss Air AG in Zurich, which he headed from 2014 to 2017. During his time there, he conceptualized and shaped the growth strategy of the Swiss holiday carrier. Trestl then moved to Swiss International Air Lines and took over as Head of Strategy and CEO Office. From 2018 to 2020, Michael Trestl was responsible for the Swiss flag carrier's network planning as Head of Network Management. With the onset of the corona pandemic, he additionally took over the management of the program "RESTART Commercial," in which the Lufthansa Group's commercial strategy for the period during and after the pandemic is being developed.
Since January 1, 2021, Michael Trestl has been a member of the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO). In his function, he is responsible for the corporate areas Network Management & Revenue Steering, Sales, IT and Austrian Brand Experience.
