Our environment. Our responsibility
“Climate change and the extreme weather conditions associated with it are having a considerable effect on international air transport. Snowstorms and hurricanes show us how sensitively the aviation industry reacts to environmental impacts. We are therefore more convinced than ever of how important it is to make a contribution towards climate and environmental protection. We are working on new strategies together with environmental experts from the Lufthansa Group. The aim is to further expand our environmental and climate protection measures.”
Jaan Albrecht, CEO Austrian Airlines
We are therefore engaged in implementing numerous measures to increase our resource and energy efficiency and to sustainably reduce our emissions and noise pollution. These range from fuel-saving measures such as the installation of lighter aircraft seats to the selection of new, low-noise approach routes. In addition, we invest continuously in researching and implementing environmentally friendly technologies and in modernising the fleet, all in line with the company’s business perspectives.
Our environmental protection activities are focused in particular on:
Climate protection and emissions
Energy and resource efficiency
Minimising aircraft noise
Environmental policy guidelines
Our clearly formulated environmental policy guidelines commit us to the sustainable use of resources and require us to comply with all environment-related laws, regulations and requirements.
We undertake to continuously improve operational environmental protection and to reduce environmental pollution, as well as to consider all suggestions and ideas received from our employees in this regard.
We provide our customers with the ongoing certainty that our services are rendered in a way that deals responsibly with the environment. When selecting suppliers, we prioritise those who use the best-possible environmental technology and are also able to demonstrate this.
